Sydney Lawson, junior elementary education major, was the Lifestyle Editor of The Shield for the 2022-2023 academic year. Lawson joined The Shield in August 2021 as a Staff Writer and was promoted to Lifestyle Editor in Spring 2021. Lawson was awarded the 2021-2022 Most Improved Shieldster. 

Lawson works for the David L. Rice Library. Lawson loves reading, collecting books and hanging out with her friends. Her favorite movies are “IT (2017),” “Luca,” “Knives Out,” “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “Spider-Man.” Her favorite TV shows are “Stranger Things,” “Hannibal,” “Hunter x Hunter,” “The Last of Us,” “MoonKnight,” “Heartstopper” and “Arcane.” Her favorite books are “Six of Crows,” “The Raven Boys,” the Percy Jackson series, “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” and “The House in the Cerulean Sea.”

“I love the welcoming and loving nature of everyone on staff,” Lawson said. “It’s genuinely one of the best communities I’ve ever been in. It’s so rewarding to work hard and provide a service to the campus community.”
