Engineering program joins team to build bridge in Africa

The university’s Engineering Program spent a total of eight weeks in Malosami, eSwatini in southern Africa over the summer. The team, consisting of both students and faculty, assisted in the construction of a 95-meter footbridge over the Ngwempisi River.

The USI contingent went as part of a team for Cornell University. They designed and lead the project through the Engineers in Action (EIA) Bridge Program, which is a collegiate of a larger EIA program. Their purpose is to work with professionals to improve the lives of people in need.
