Holli Nelson attends the 47th annual Juried Student Art Exhibition Sunday afternoon. Nelson stopped to admire Livia Alexanders piece titled My Mother: A Modern Venus. Nelson is the sister of student artist Kerri Nelson. “I love this piece of work,” Nelson said. “It gives attention to a fuller figure that normally only perfect women get.” Kerri Nelson is the artist of the piece “Three Hearts of a Sloth.“

Families, friends and supporters stood shoulder to shoulder, smiling, hugging and congratulating student artists. As they walked around the McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries, many stopped to look at “From Yesterday to Forever” by Ryan McKain.
Just after the artists were announced, Jarred Fawks, a photography and graphic design major in his fourth year, made his way over to the corner in the back gallery where this piece was illuminated. Kristina Fitzerald calls these multiple works of art Invasive Species Postcard Series.
