Campus community’s conflicting voice on DI

Tegan Ruhl, Staff Writer

Students, faculty and staff on campus have mixed feelings about the possible transition of university athletics to Division I.

The campus community received an email from President Ronald Rochon on Sept. 27, 2021, stating that the university will be looking into a possible move to Division I athletics. Now, a little over four months later, a decision will be made on Monday.

While some students and faculty are neutral on the topic, others are strongly in favor or strongly oppositional creating an internal tension on campus. While some are willing to voice their opinion, others are not. Some students and faculty even wish to not voice their opinion on the subject.
