France- Gratin Bauphinois
Before even trying it, I thought the food looked like cheesy potatoes but without the cheese. And that’s how it tasted. I think I would put a little salt or maybe a sauce. It lacked flavor for me. But then again, I like to dip all most of my food all time.
Iraq- Dolma
I do not think I would have tried this unless I was doing this assignment. It did not look that appetizing to me. It looked like red mash potatoes (I must have been in a potato mood that day). I was surprised by how good it was. The lady said it is Mexican spicy, and it was. I love Mexican and thought if I go to an Iraqi restaurant, this would be something I would get or make someone else get so I can at least sample it.
Kenya- Samosa pastry
This was by-far my favorite thing I ate on Friday. It was a triangle snack, and it was greasy. I was actually really hesitant to eat it, but I ate the whole thing. The meat, I think, is in the middle, and it was difficult for me to get to that part in the first bite. I had to eat a bite of just greasy, dough.
Venezula- String beef with garlic, onions, peppers and a side of black beans.
Unfortunately, they ran out of their main dish. This dish of beef and veggies tasted very American to me. I think I could make it, too. It was good, but not as different as I thought. I wish I could have tried their orignial dish.
Japan- Green Tea Mochi Cake
First off, it’s green, like grass green. Unless it’s St. Patrick’s Day, I don’t eat stuff that is that green. I tried it and was surprised it tasted like a hard sugar cookie. The people helping said they had ice cream and toppings to put on top of it. I understand the reasoning, I was so thirsty afterwards.
