The USI Capstone Artists’ Closing Shift Exhibition will continue until Dec.12 in the Preston Arts Center. The show features artwork from USI seniors Clementine Blair, Iain Girten, Nancy Grant, Caleb Johnson, Jean Raines, and Gwendolyn Stuckey, all of whom will be graduating with degrees in the arts this December. The Preston Arts Center, located on the campus of Henderson Community College, is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The “56th Annual Juried Student Art Show” will continue until Dec. 7 in the Kenneth P. McCutchan Art Center/Palmina F. and Stephen S. Pace Galleries. This exhibition consists of 85 juror-selected artworks produced by 52 artists. Located in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center, the Kenneth P. McCutchan Art Center/Palmina F. and Stephen S. Pace Galleries are open for viewing Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is also open on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Filled Up 6: A Ceramic Cup Show will continue until Dec. 20 in the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art. It is recommended that you visit before Dec. 13 so you can see everything, as that is the date of a reception where people who have purchased works will be able to remove them. The show features ceramic cups created by artists across the region and country.
Music
The 54th Annual Madrigal Feaste will take place Dec. 4 through 7. Performances through Dec. 4 through 6 will take place at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The Dec. 7 matinee performance will begin at 1 p.m., with doors opening at 12:30 p.m. Performances of this USI tradition involve the USI Choir performing old English madrigals and Irish traditional folk songs combined with dancing, drama and food.
The Evansville Germania Maennerchor will host Christmas at Germania, which includes a German dinner of pork chops, red cabbage, green beans and a roll accompanied by performances from the Germania choirs and an original Christmas play. This will occur on Dec. 5 and 6 at 7 p.m., with doors opening an hour prior.
The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra Peppermint Pops Christmas concert will be held Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 2 p.m., with doors opening an hour prior to both performances. The performances will be held at the Victory Theatre. They encourage monetary donations for the Tri-State Food Bank.
Events
Christmas in New Harmony will take place Dec. 5 through 7. New Harmony will be lit up with Christmas cheer, with multiple vendors selling food and crafts. A Holiday House tour is available to view New Harmony’s architectural diversity.
On Dec. 6 there will be a Christmas parade at 10:30 a.m. as well as a rendition of “The Nutcracker” at Thrall’s Opera House for the Children’s Center for Dance Education from 3 to 5 p.m.
