Elvis Bendana Rivas, assistant professor of communication studies, presents on political music from the Nicaraguan Revolution Thursday, Oct. 30, in Kleymeyer Hall. His presentation was titled “Singing Death: Revolutionary Song as Vernacular Warfare in the 1979 Nicaraguan Revolution.” He discussed songs that gave instructions on how to build weapons and how the music helped build community during this time.
