The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival began Oct. 7 with carnival rides and food booths and ended Oct.12 with a street parade. Every year, the Fall Festival is organized by the West Side Nut Club. The festival includes entertainment, carnival attractions, food booths, a half-pot, a street parade and a pet parade.

Kai Harris is a freshman pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design. Harris joined The Shield in Fall 2024 as the visual editor. In the past, he has worked with local startups and small organizations as a designer. He is also the co-author of a graphic novel “Pinewood.” Harris enjoys drawing, playing bass, writing music and going on walks in his free time.
Will Kessinger, Sports Editor
Will Kessinger is a sophomore finance major. He is an alumnus of the Bill Simmons College of Sports Takes, graduating with honors. Kessinger joined The Shield in 2023 as the acclaimed “sports guy” in the newsroom and was promoted to sports editor in Fall 2024. Other than USI athletics, Kessinger follows the Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Cardinals and Arsenal Football Club. His work is inspired by a quote from Steve Jobs: “It’s more fun to be a pirate than to join the Navy.”
