The first issue of The Spartan Shield was published Oct. 15, 1968. The Shield Staff is celebrating The Shield’s 53rd birthday by digitally republishing stories from The Shield Archive. The following sports story published  Aug. 29, 2019 complies a list of sports achievements in the university’s history. The following story has not been edited by the 2021-2022 staff.

The University of Southern Indiana has not been around very long. It started in the 60s and USI is still going strong today. With everything constantly moving forward, it is always good to look back at our accomplishments.

Nov. 29, 2007: Women’s Basketball have an undefeated season

May 1, 2008: Baseball team are made division champions

Mar. 5, 2009: Eagles host the GLVC tourney for the first time

Mar. 26, 2009: Baseball team sets a school record

Apr. 9, 2009: Track team qualifies for nationals after one meet

Nov. 12, 2009: Volleyball has an undefeated season
