Classes to go online first three weeks of spring semester
October 23, 2020
All classes will be online for the first three weeks of spring semester.
Classes will still begin Jan. 19, but will be held virtually. There are exceptions for labs, practicums, clinicals and other courses that will require students to meet in person.
“As we look toward the Spring Semester, I’m committed to an approach that continues to put safety at the forefront,” President Ron Rochon said in the email.
Students will be notified before Thanksgiving break if they are registered for a class that requires them to return to campus on Jan. 19.
Classes will resume being held in person, online or as a hybrid mix on Feb. 8.
The university also updated their COVID-19 website to reflect the changes made to the semester.
The campus will reopen on Jan. 4 along with the REC, Rice Library, UC Food Services and Health Center.
Housing will reopen starting Jan. 8. Spring semester ends on May 7.
“You can be proud of the work you have done up to this point and I thank you for that,” Rochon said in the email. “But we must stay vigilant. It will take continued hard work and adherence to the measures put in place to ensure that we continue to keep our campus safe and open.”
