University confirms first case of coronavirus
The university was informed that a student has contracted coronavirus, marking the first case of COVID-19 for a member of the USI community.
A test of the student came back positive yesterday and the student is self-isolating at home according to a university-wide email.
The student was last on campus March 25 and there is no known health risk to campus.
Indiana has 12,438 confirmed cases of coronavirus, including 661 deaths. Vanderburgh County has 98 confirmed cases and one COVID-19-related death according to the Vanderburgh County Health Department.
