The Work-a-holic
Expensive: A gift basket with bath salts, body scrub, foot scrub, body lotion, etc. Because work-a-holics are always on the go a nice gesture might be to give them a gift to help them unwind and relax. Be sure to let them know that is why you’re getting them this gift, not because you think they are smelly. $40
Affordable: A mole skin planner. Barnes and Noble carries these planners and from their label it says artists like Picasso and Van Gogh used them. I’m not entirely sure what is so special about them, but people who use notebooks and planners swear by them. Be sure to get the right year, don’t get a discounted one—they might only have a few days to use it. $13.46
The artist
Expensive: A record player. Keep in mind, these aren’t necessarily cheap but with some bargain hunting you might be able to score an affordable one. Music lovers appreciate record players, because music just sounds so much better on vinyl. Prices may vary from $49 to $200.
Affordable: White shoes from Wal-Mart with a set of fabric pens. Either draw on them yourself, or give them together as a craft they can make. $10 for the shoes and $5 for fabric pens.
The Fashionista
Expensive: A coach wristlet. They aren’t the most expensive thing in the Coach store, but they require some saving. However, they are adorable and will have the fashionista in your life swooning. They come in an assortment of colors and are particularly wonderful if she’s the kind of girl that doesn’t care to carry her purse with her, but still needs her credit card and I.D. with her. Prices vary from $50 to $120
Affordable: Decorative ear buds, because a fashionista can’t be seen walking around in ordinary, white ear buds. These are usually sold at stores like Hot Topic or Old Navy, designs range from cupcakes, rhinestone encrusted, Hello Kitty and Babushka dolls (the dolls that orginate from Russia that you open and there’s a smaller one inside, open that one and in it is another smaller one and so on). Prices vary from $5 to $15 depending on how many pairs there are.
The Cooker
Expensive: A bacon cooker. Consider if this is a good idea before buying if, if the friend/family member you have is a vegetarian, this might not be the best gift idea. For everyone else, though who doesn’t love bacon? The bacon cooker resembles a coffee mug, the bacon is draped over the sides of the mug and placed in the microwave. The fat, is then collected at the bottom where is can be poured out to store for other cooking projects. $50
Affordable: Individual frying pans for eggs or pancakes. They are great for containing the size of your pancakes so they don’t break so easily or two become on giant pancake. At Kitchen Affairs you can actually pancake frying pans in the shape of pigs and bears. Around $14
The Geek
Expensive: The Brookstone remote control pillow, available online. A pillow and a universal remote control—it’s geektastic. Now, the geek in your life doesn’t have to get up to try and find the remote which is inevitably hiding behind cushions and under pillows because the remote control IS the pillow. $40.
Cheap: Damn You, Autocorrect, a book sold online or at most bookstores. If the geek in your life owns an iPhone, Droid or a smart phone (and they probably do) they can relate well to this book. Inside contains what would have been normal conversations made hilarious by autocorrect. About $13.
