The Boston Celtics announced today that they have waived former USI basketball standout Jamar Smith. 

Smith will go through the NBA waiver process, which allows teams 48 hours to place a waiver claim, otherwise he will become a free agent.

A two-year starting guard at USI from 2008-2010, Smith holds the school record with 20.2 points per game.
