It’s the middle of October, and I’m excited about the approaching holiday.
But which holiday am I talking about? Wal-Mart has Christmas hanging from the walls already before my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, is even a month away.
Wal-Mart started putting up Christmas trees and playing “Jingle Bell Rock” about a week ago.
I want to enjoy each holiday individually, and I know, the politically correct term is “Happy Holidays,” but that does not mean they have to be smushed together.
I feel that Wal-Mart, like any company, wants to make money from the holiday seasons, but I don’t think bringing Christmas to town two months before the actual holiday and before the approaching other holidays (Halloween and Thanksgiving) will help sales.
Holidays make huge impacts on children and some adults, and each one has a different meaning and purpose for being a holiday.
If these days were so important to be given a whole day to itself, it should be celebrated without the overshadow of a possible bigger holiday.
I suggest Wal-Mart have a permanent section for each and every holiday all-year around. That way it has no bias with how long in advance to put decorations and candy.
I personally would love to start bringing in little decoration turkeys when I get back to school.
Wal-Mart has strategically placed itself all over the country, so it’s usually the closet store to go to.
It’s where I go to buy milk, vinegar, contact solution, finger nail polish, dog food (if I had a dog) – it has everything.
It’s already a leading company, why does it have to poison our minds with “Jingle Bell Rock” tunes?
