March has a significant shift in the sports calendar, as outdoor sports return to USI.
The first week of March provides some intriguing games for the baseball team. The Illinois State University game is USI’s first challenging home matchup. The Redbirds currently hold a record of 5-2 as of Feb. 24. Despite a relatively early start time, if you are able to attend this game, it should live up to the billing.
Just before spring break, the softball team makes its home debut against Tennessee State University, Saturday, Mar. 7 at 12 p.m. This comes after playing 12 games from Feb. 7-22, which included matchups against Ball State University, the University of Evansville, the University of Kansas, the University of Massachusetts, and Villanova University. Some tough competition prepared the Screaming Eagles for conference play.
Finally, the USI men’s tennis team plays its first home match at the USI Tennis Courts Friday, Mar. 20, at 2 p.m. This match serves as an opportunity to prepare for conference play in the Horizon League, where the Screaming Eagles finished with a 2-2 record last season.
