The annual Southern Indiana Dance Marathon (SIDM) will take place Saturday, Feb. 21 in Carter Hall from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The entry cost is $15 per person.
Addy Mathis, junior dental hygiene major who works as both the Greek relations and recruitment director for SIDM, said “[SIDM is] an event that is here to raise awareness for the Riley Children’s Hospital and other children’s network hospitals.”
The event includes dancing, playing games and listening to stories from Riley kids to raise awareness and money.
Mathis said attendees are not required to stay the entire time. If the SIDM can fit into your schedule, even if it’s just for a little bit, coming and learning how to help so many amazing kids will be well worth one’s time.
Raising awareness and money come from individual donors, social media fundraising, team fundraising, the kids’ stories and the event itself.
Natalie Restivo, junior nursing major and president of SIDM, said she hopes they can double the goal from $15,000 to $30,000 to celebrate the event’s 15th anniversary. She said that there are 50 participants and three teams signed up, all working to hit their goal.
She also said the Riley Children’s Foundation is active in the local community as the Deaconess Riley Children’s Specialty Center.
