The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is hosting its 50th anniversary celebration weekend, from Nov. 7 to 9. On Nov. 7, there will be a block party for all ages from 3 to 5 p.m., which will include music, snacks and art-making activities. Nov. 8 will include presentations and talks from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Following this will be a reception beginning at 3 p.m., which will include hors d’oeuvres as well as auctions. On Sunday, Nov. 9, beginning at 10:30 a.m., there will be “Breakfast and Branches” at the Trees of 40 Fruit near the Atheneum Visitor Center in New Harmony, where Sam Van Aken, an artist, will present his work.
The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra will be at the Victory Theatre Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. for their show “Brahms Requiem.” This performance intends to show how music can evoke various emotions. Joining the orchestra and chorus will be Laura Santamaria-Mendez and Michael Dean.
On Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m., Warren Zeider, a country music artist, will be at the Ford Center for his “Relapse, Lies, and Betrayal Tour.” Joining him will be Chayce Beckham, winner of the 19th season of “American Idol.”
TobyMac will be at the Old National Events Plaza Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Aiken Theatre. During this concert, he will play his hit songs as well as his new album “My Mind: Start to Finish.” Evansville is one of only eight cities he will be performing in, and seats are limited.
At the Victory Theatre on Nov. 9, Queensrÿche will be performing for their “Volume and Vengeance” tour at 7 p.m. They have toured with popular bands such as Metallica and Guns N’ Roses and have won multiple awards.
Moxie Events is presenting “The Magic of Motown” on Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Victory Theatre. This is a tribute show featuring music from artists like The Jackson Five and Diana Ross. This is a rescheduled show, so tickets purchased for the earlier date are still valid for use.
“Filling Empty Bowls for Veterans” will be hosted Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Barker Brewhouse. This is an event hosted by the University of Southern Indiana through the national non-profit Empty Bowls. The goal is to raise money for the Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program to help Evansville’s underfed veterans. Participants can get a ceramic bowl made by USI as well as soup from the food truck “Mother Trucker” with their $20 donation.
NEEDTOBREATHE is a band known for its passionate music, which takes its fans’ breath away. This Grammy-nominated rock band will be in the Victory Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 for “The Barely Elegant Acoustic Tour,” which will feature special guest Bre Kennedy. Bre Kennedy is new to the Nashville music scene and is known for her raspy vocals and emotional songwriting.
At the Victory Theatre on Nov. 25 at 7 p.m., Cirque Musica will perform their “Holiday Wonderland” show. This show combines circus acts, such as aerial and acrobatic performances, with holiday music.
