Construction on the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions began in the fall of 2024 and continues to affect students. Construction blocked many entrances to the college, and closed one of the lanes on the roundabout that leads to the entrance of campus. These disturbances are set to end in 2027 when the construction on Kinney College is finished. Forty-eight thousand square feet of space will be added for classrooms and clinics to assist in student education.

The construction has had adverse effects for the entirety of its duration. Excess noise has been impeding classwork and student concentration.

The dental clinic parking spaces are not the only ones that have been blocked off, and it is creating a problem for students at Kinney College. Spaces for commuters to park have also decreased, making it harder for all students to get to classes on time.

Mara Kluesner, senior dental hygiene major, said she has to arrive earlier for class when she lives on campus. 

“The parking situation is outrageous for the students who pay so much to live on campus every year. We pay this much extra to have the like privilege to be able to be this close, and then we end up with more time before, like, getting to our class,” Klusener said. “We have to get here earlier than everyone else, when the purpose is not to have to do that.”
