Everyone has demons, but Kat has two: Wendell and Wild. The pair are siblings from the underworld and are dying to make a deal!
This movie isn’t like your average claymation movie, because it has a character that is a part of the punk subculture.
“Wendell and Wild” came out in 2022 on Netflix. I have watched it twice, but I wanted to watch it again because I like how the animation style reminds me of Tim Burton. I found out that the director, Henry Selick, worked with Tim Burton a lot, and that’s why I found his art style so familiar. Plus, Jordan Peele is one of the film producers.
I also love Kat Elliot and her punk/alternative style. As a black person, it’s so refreshing to see a character that I can relate to and who has a cool style. If you aren’t a poser, don’t care and like to make people stare, I recommend it.
Spoiler warning
I was so sad when her parents died at the beginning of the movie, because she blamed herself for it. This is also why she is in and out of juvenile hall, before she gets sent to Rust Bank Catholic School for Girls.
There, she becomes Hell Maiden, which leads to Wendell and Wild finding her and making her do their bidding, promising her they can bring her parents back from the dead. She can’t catch a break at all.
I rate this movie a 5/5.
