*Be warned: there will be spoilers from this point forward, but if you haven’t seen it yet, you’re already missing out*
Five years after the events of the first film, the Ghostbusters are out of business after being sued for the damages done to the city, and they all split off in different directions. After events with Dana’s (Sigourney Weaver) baby and “mood slime,” the Ghostbusters must get back into action to stop Vigo the Carpathian (Wilhelm von Homburg).
Once again, this Ghostbusters film is another visually stunning film. Between the shot in the underground train line and the shots above New York City, all the shots in this film hold firm to the stunning visuals of the first film.
The music in the second film definitely stepped up its game from the first movie. It’s easy to hear the shift in pop music between the five years since the last movie, too. Out of all of the songs in the film, “Flip City” by Glenn Frey would have to be my favorite.
Once again, my major complaint with this movie is how much they push the romance between Dana and Peter (Bill Murray). I do like how the movie has them rekindle their romance that they gained in the first film, but I think that they spend far too much time on it. They balance it by having the other three Ghostbusters share scenes quite a bit, but I think having the film focus on what should be the main focus would be better. This is a fault the first movie had as well.
“Ghostbusters 2” serves as a good sequel to the first. It stays true to the characters and the story of the first film. I love the second film; sometimes I prefer it over the original. I think it would be a good movie for anyone to watch, even if someone didn’t particularly like the first movie.
