Campus Activities
Labor Day at the Lake will kick off Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. at New Beginnings Lakeside Church. The event will feature swimming, water swings, volleyball, basketball and free food. The university will provide transportation from the Community Center and Recreation, Fitness and Wellness Center
The Multicultural Center will host Dining With the Deans Sept. 11 at noon in the MCC multipurpose room for students to connect with college deans.
MCC Power Hour will take place Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. in the MCC multipurpose room. It will bring students together for intentional conversations about culture, race, identity and social issues.
The MCC Success Series, which will be Sept. 24 at noon in the MCC Multipurpose Room, will assist students in navigating campus resources. Topics will include time management, study techniques and budgeting.
Greek Life
Tau Kappa Epsilon will offer a multi-day recruitment experience starting Sept. 1 at 9 a.m. with
Labor Day at The Lake at NB Lakeside Church. There will be grilling and games on Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. in Eicher Barn. The fraternity will host basketball Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Center, followed by digital golf simulators and dining Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at Birdies!
Sigma Pi will host recruitment tabling Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. in the University Center Breezeway. Join them for basketball Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. at the REC Courts, flag football Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. at the USI Rugby Field, par 3 golf Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at Howell Park and a cookout Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. at Eicher Barn.
Lambda Chi Alpha will host volleyball and spikeball Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. at the outdoor sand volleyball courts. Experience their brotherhood at the NFL Kickoff Tailgate/Watch Party Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. and their premiere fall rush event, Hangout At The House/Lambda Cookoff, Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. at their on-campus house.
Kappa Alpha Order will host a dodgeball tournament Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. at the REC and the Blazin Campfire Challenge at Eicher Barn Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.
The Panhellenic Council will present Sorority Recruitment 101 Sept. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the Byron C. Wright Administration Building Forum I. This event will teach students about the formal recruitment process and introduce them to their Rho Sigma recruitment counselors.
Gamma Phi Beta will host recruitment tabling Sept. 8, 10 and 11 at 11 a.m. in the University Center Breezeway.
Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment will be Sept. 19 through 21. Bid Day is Sept. 21 in the late afternoon and the day when students learn which chapter they are invited to join.
Sigma Pi will present Fraterday Night Live Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. at the USI Theatre. This talent show will benefit the Amazing Day Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on mental health and suicide prevention resources.
Housing and Residence Life
HRL will host Unc’s Cookout Sept. 3 at 5 p.m. between Ruston Hall and O’Bannon Hall with hot dogs, cookies and refreshing drinks.
Join them for Syrup & Swamp Sept. 3 at 8:30 p.m. at Newman Multipurpose Room for free waffles.
Celebrate National Chocolate Milkshake Day Sept. 9 at 5 p.m. at Newman Hall MPR.
Academic and Professional Development
The Center for International Programs will host a Study Abroad Fair Sept. 4 at 10 a.m. in the University Center Breezeway, featuring study abroad partners and travel-related prizes. Information sessions will be held Sept. 8 at 2 p.m., Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. and Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. in UC 2205.
The Gilman and Chill event Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. in UC 2207 will provide personalized feedback on Gilman Scholarship applications, with lemonade and Rice Krispies provided.
The USI Career Success Center will host the Internship and Career Fair Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Liberty Arena, connecting students with employers offering internships, part-time jobs and full-time career opportunities.
Student Organizations
The Honors Student Assembly will meet Sept. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in Forum I to introduce the Honors Student Council and discuss upcoming events. A second meeting, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. in Forum I, will feature freshman chair elections.
The Psychology Club will host Meet The Professors Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. in LA 1004. They welcome all students, regardless of major, to network and learn about opportunities over pizza and snacks.
The Biology Club will hold its first meeting Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. in ED 2113, introduce executive members and serve free pizza.
The Pre-Professional Health Club will host a call-out meeting Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m. in ED2108 with free pizza and information about the organization.
The Indiana State Teachers Association for Aspiring Educators will meet Sept. 3 at 4:30 p.m. in RL 1003 to discuss upcoming events and fundraising ideas.
The Activities Programming Board will hold general meetings Sept. 10 and 24 at 6 p.m. in the Student Life Lounge to discuss upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
Health and Wellness
The Recreation, Fitness and Wellness Center will host Improve Your Snooze Sept. 11 at 12:15 p.m. in UC 2218 to teach helpful sleep strategies and relaxation exercises. Attendees can win a Chulux coffee maker with sleepy time tea.
A self-care station will be set up Sept. 16 at 11:30 a.m. in the UC Breezeway, offering information about wellness resources, along with free stress balls and sleep masks.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Allen Family Amphitheater in Newburgh needs volunteers for weekend concerts till late September. Tasks include ticket tables, greeting and assisting band members. Contact Leanna Hughes for more information.
Student Organization Information
Student organizations must complete their renewal process by Sept. 26. Renewal sessions are scheduled throughout August and at least one officer from each organization must attend.
