Dumbledore is a nice guy and all, he’s pretty sweet, and he’s got a grandfatherly all knowing thing going on about him, but Gandalf is where it’s at.
Let me break it down for you: Gandalf is the better wizard.
Gandalf successfully conjures up a plan to save all of middle earth and has found the root of all evil. That’s right, he doesn’t have to search forever for pieces of it like Dumbledore has to search for horcruxes’, he has it in safekeeping to begin with (more or less).
When he gets backstabbed by this friend Sarumon and left on this really tall tower, he speaks to a moth that sends for a huge eagle to come and rescue him.
Plus one for Gandalf, he speaks to animals.
Gandalf falls forever down this fire thing and eventually dies fighting a beast.
Normally, dying is the end for people – like it was for Dumbledore when he fell off a tower, too bad he couldn’t talk to moths – but Gandalf gives a big middle finger to death and says “Nuh-uh, not yet” and comes back with a new wardrobe decked out in glowing whiteness that blinds people.
He successfully helps purge middle earth of all of evil and none of his friends died.
Then there is Dumbledore, who has magic and uses it for useless shit and allows a bunch of minors at his school to die.
Let’s talk about that time turner he is in possession of. He allows Hermione to use it to save an ugly hypocrite. Wouldn’t a better use for it have been to go back in time and just kill Lord Voledmort before he had a chance to kill Harry’s parents and all the crap that went down back in the day?
I think Gandalf wouldn’t have used that time turner to go back to the time that guy chopped off that dudes hand and had possession of the ring, then club him in the back of the head with his staff (not a puny wand) and throw the stupid ring into the pit of fire at Mordor. That’s what he would have done.
So who is the better wizard? I’ll let you decide.
