USI’s Swim and Dive teams competed in their final home meet on Saturday against Eastern Illinois University. The diving squad and women’s swimming team captured strong victories, while the men’s swimming team performed admirably, but ultimately fell short. The USI diving team travels to the University of Illinois Chicago on Feb 8, before preparing for the Summit League Championships in Iowa City, Iowa on Feb 19-22.

Will Kessinger is a sophomore finance major. He is an alumnus of the Bill Simmons College of Sports Takes, graduating with honors. Kessinger joined The Shield in 2023 as the acclaimed “sports guy” in the newsroom and was promoted to sports editor in Fall 2024. Other than USI athletics, Kessinger follows the Pittsburgh Steelers, St. Louis Cardinals and Arsenal Football Club.
