This fall semester has plenty of events in the arts for students to look forward to.
Visual Art:
The exhibition in the Kenneth P. McCutchan Art Center/Palmina F. and Stephen S. Pace Galleries will remain on display until the closing reception at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
The exhibition was curated by the Evansville African American Museum’s curator, Tory Schnedel-Vyvoda, and Gregory Blair, assistant professor of art and interim director of MAC/Pace Galleries.
It contains multi-media artwork from Matthew Fields, Kenneth Randle and Sophia Okotah, assistant professor of art and design.
New Harmony will hold Kunstfest from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22. Kunstfest is a German-inspired street festival featuring food, artisan goods and entertainment.
Another art show from USI alumni Ethan Douglass and Christian Schmitz is set to open. This show, “Baggy Genes: Early Days,” is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 28.
Theatre:
USI has six productions scheduled for this school year, three of which will be directed by students.
The University of Evansville has five productions planned for its academic year.
Evansville Civic Theatre plans to perform “Urinetown” Sept. 13-15 and 20-22.
Evansville Community Theatre has a production of “The War of the Worlds” scheduled for Oct. 24-26.
Music:
Evansville’s ninth Front Porch Fest will be held Sept. 7-8 in the Haynie’s Corner Art District. This free festival will occur from 3-8:00 p.m. and will feature food trucks and a wide variety of musical genres, including bluegrass and rock.
This year’s Fuschia Fest is Sept. 14 at Wellspring Church. Beginning at noon, the festival will feature artwork from five artists, including USI alumni Jade Young and Al Sheets. Music will begin at 2 p.m.
Film:
From Sept. 12-14, the fifth annual Victory International Film Festival will occur. Past festivals have included student films, animations and workshops for people interested in acting and filmmaking.
