The Shield announces magazine “Unmasked,” SGA, APB partnered kickoff event
April 18, 2023
The Shield is excited to announce we have been working on a special edition magazine titled “Unmasked: Unmasking the Story of How COVID-19 Affected the University of Southern Indiana.”
This 56-page magazine documents the history of how COVID-19 affected the university’s campus through different stages: Going Home, Returning to Campus, Entering New Normal and Managing COVID-19.
“The purpose of ‘Unmasked’ is to reflect and remember the stories of the USI community during the global COVID-19 pandemic,” said Shelby Clark, Editor-in-Chief of The Shield. “This magazine will serve as a record for these moments in the university’s history. I am so proud of my incredible staff for investing their energy and efforts into this historic magazine in addition to the work they complete as full-time students and full-time Shield staff.”
The Shield is happy to be partnering with the Student Government Association and the Activities Programming Board for an end-of-the-year celebration called Unmasking USI 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. April 24 on The Quad where we will release “Unmasked.” This event is the first event in USI history to be hosted by SGA, APB and The Shield.
Clark said, “We could not think of a better way to release our magazine than partnering with SGA and APB, making USI history once again, with the event Unmasking USI.”
The event will feature a cookout, Kona Ice truck, free giveaways, the USI Dance Team, 20+ campus organizations and appearances from President Ronald Rochon and Archie Eagle.
The Shield is looking forward to releasing “Unmasked” to the campus community at Unmasking USI 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. April 24 on The Quad.
