The men’s and women’s Division I golf careers began earlier this week.

USI’s men’s golf started their season off with the Golfweek Fall Challenge at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, South Carolina on Sept. 11-13. They finished sixth out of 14 teams in the challenge, facing teams like Temple University and Coastal Carolina University.

Senior Zach Williams tied for fifth and broke his own USI single-round record at 65 (-7). Williams finished the three-round tournament with 208, breaking the 54-hole record he held of 211 from the Murray State University Invitational last fall.

Sophomore Jason Bannister tied for 19th shooting (72-71-70) over three rounds, which totaled 213 (-3).

The men’s team will travel to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville on Sept. 26 and 27 for the Derek Dolenc Invitational.

The women’s team placed fifth at Illinois State University’s Redbird Fall Invitational at the Weibring Golf Club on Sept. 11 and 12. They faced notable teams in the country like Butler University, Ball State University, Loyola Chicago University and Northern Illinois University.

Junior Haylee Exline led the Eagles with 245 (+29) over 36 holes. She broke USI’s tournament best record with a 76 in the final round. The team finished with a total (+133).

The women’s team will travel to Clarksville, Tennessee for the Austin Peay Intercollegiate on Sept. 26 and 27 at Clarksville Country Club.
