Students in campus housing experienced a power outage this morning.

Power on the west side of Evansville went out this morning according to a Rave Alert email sent to students at 9:59 a.m.

The on-campus apartments experienced the power outage. The core campus buildings and the C-Store did not experience an outage.

Amy Mack, a junior elementary education major, said she was cleaning this morning when the power went out.

“I had to stop cleaning because I couldn’t see,” Mack said. “But I was still able to do my laundry because the C-Store was open, so it didn’t really affect me that much. ”

Mack said only she and her roommate were home at the time, and her roommate was sleeping when the power went out.

The power was restored to the apartments around 10:20 a.m.

USI Housing said they do not know what caused the power outage, but it was not a problem on their end.

Vectren could not be reached to comment on the power outage.
