Junior Forward Justin Carpenter was arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail Sunday morning and is facing DUI charges according to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department.

He has since been released on a $250 bond.

“University of Southern Indiana and USI Athletics take these matters very seriously with our men’s basketball program, our department, and our University,” USI said. “Justin is taking some time away from the team to get himself healthy and whole, after which USI will re-evaluate Justin’s situation when the time is right.”

Carpenter, an art major from Palestine, Illinois, transferred to USI this season after spending a season at Wabash Valley College and Southeast Missouri State University.

Carpenter has only played in two games this season, scoring three total points according to online statistics from the university.
