Annual charity event ‘Empty Bowls’ canceled for 2019

The annual “Empty Bowls” Evansville event, where students, faculty and community members volunteer to make and glaze bowls for charity, will not take place this year.

The annual event occurs at Sauced on Haynie’s Corner in Evansville every November. Assistant Professor of Ceramics Al Holen said she did not have enough time to host the event this year. The event has taken place every year since 2011, raising over $70,000 in the process with all proceeds going to hunger based charities in Evansville.

Holen said she is hoping to get more community and high school support with some arts grants to get more bowls made at other facilities when the event returns next year.
