IT releases tips for Cyber Security Month
October 22, 2019
October is Cyber-Security Month and to help keep student’s identity safety, Information Technology is providing tips to protect them from identity theft.
IT is advising students to never send passwords or payments to anyone through email as this is usually a phishing scam. Phishing emails may look legitimate but often contain grammatical, punctuation and capitalization errors and improper tense.
IT is also advising students to not provide sensitive details like Social Security numbers and bank information in an email in order to protect them from identity theft.
Another way of protecting students’ identity is by using different usernames and passwords across various online accounts.
