Parts of Evansville on boil advisory

Rhonda Wheeler, News Editor

People in the Evansville area, including those at USI, are going to have to boil their water before they drink it.

According to the Evansville Water Sewer Utility (EWSU), all areas west of St. Joseph Avenue, east to the Posey County Line, north of the Ohio River and south of Mill Road are affected by the advisory. Bayard Park Dr addresses 700 to 750 and South Linwood Avenue from Adams Avenue and south to Madison Avenue. will also have to boil their water before drinking or cooking with it.

This is due to a main break on North Red Bank Road.

According to evansvillegov.org, the potential for contamination of drinking water is unlikely, but the Evansville Water Utility advises those in affected areas to bring all cooking and drinking water to a complete boil for 5 minutes. However, people should still be able to shower, bath or do their laundry, they should just avoid drinking the water.

USI housing residents can get bottled water at the Housing and Residence Life building’s front desk.

EWSU will announce when the advisory is over.
