Marvel movie offers fan-favorites

For over a year, Marvel Studios has been producing film after film, giving fans an overflow of movies to enjoy, each one adding new depth to the Marvel franchise.

The latest addition to Marvel brought audiences the sequel to “Ant-Man,” titled “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”

Fans were excited to see the return of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) as the Marvel Universe welcomed Wasp to the franchise. A classic comic book character often featured with the Avengers, many were eager to see Wasp featured on the big screens in this action-packed film.

Though she and Ant-Man are often addressed as a team up, Wasp has many solo fight scenes, giving audiences a clear view of her skills and resilience.

Taking place two years after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” the film focused on Lang reaching the end of his tiresome house arrest. Struggling to run a business and be the father his daughter needs, Lang unwillingly finds himself playing hero again.

This time, he helps Hope and her father as they attempt to find Hope’s mother who was lost to the quantum realm many years prior.

The story was a wonderful addition to Marvel Studios, giving fans a much-needed laugh after the previous darkness of “Avengers: Infinity War.” It’s filled with good-natured humor and plays on the villainization of characters with the addition of the antagonist, Ghost/Ava (Hannah John-Kamen).

While “Ant-Man and the Wasp” is a great movie, in comparison to previous films, the climax and overall rating of the movie couldn’t compete with the intensity featured in other Marvel films.

However, the ending will give audiences enough suspense to keep them counting down the days until Marvel’s next films in 2019.
