Underclassmen set pace
Freshman Darius Payne and sophomore Jesse Stanley both earned Top-10 finishes in the 800 meter race at the Don DeNoon Invitational.
The race was hosted by Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Payne helped lead USI with his time of one minute, 57.58 seconds to earn him ninth place.
Stanley followed closely in 10th place with his time of one minute, 57.95 seconds.
The team only had nine athletes competing in this meet.
The next opportunities for Eagle action come Feb. 12-13, in either the Grand Valley State University Big Meet or the Tom Hathaway Distance Carnival.
