Schoenstein named head coach

Eric Schoenstein was officially hired as head coach of the women’s soccer team.

Schoenstein was the first full-time assistant coach hired at USI and after the resignation of former head coach Krissy Engelbrecht, acted as interim head coach.

Schoenstein played soccer for USI from 1988-91. The team won league titles all four years.

He was senior captain in 1991, and he still ranks among the all-time leaders for men’s soccer at USI.

“The opportunity to be the women’s head coach is a dream come true,” Schoenstein said in a press release. “USI is an amazing university and I am looking forward to coaching a great group of student athletes.”
