The Honors Program and the Housing and Residence Life would like to wish everyone a Happy Halloween.
“It’s mainly for people in the Honors Program or anyone who is eligible to join the Honors Program,” Honors student Kate Grudzinski said. “They’re invited as well to come get a feel for the fun things that we can do.”
In addition to eating pizza and candy, guests will roast s’mores during the bonfire and have the option of competing in the costume contest.
“The Honors LLC is doing a group costume and I’m not at liberty to discuss it at the moment,” the freshman political science and journalism double major said grinning.
Grudzinski said she is most looking forward to fulfilling her duties as a fire committee member. These duties include searching for kindling and building and tending the fire throughout the party.
The Housing and Residence Life will have their annual Boo Bash from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on October 29 in Newman and Governors Hall.
“Boo Bash will give faculty and staff the opportunity to bring their children through two of our traditional residence halls,” Brandon Jackson said, “For this event the children will dress up for Halloween and trick-or-treat through the two halls.”
Only RA’s and residents with pumpkin pie cut-outs on their door can hand candy out to children.
“Children will not enter any rooms and will be accompanied by an adult at all times,” said the Housing and Residence Life Department Area Coordinator.
Boo Bash gives faculty and staff opportunities to meet with students outside of the usual classroom setting, Jackson said. It also allows students to show off their creativity when decorating their doors.
“I can’t wait to see all the different types of costumes,” Jackson said. “I am interested to see if the faculty and staff members will dress up also.”
Jackson himself plans on either dressing up as Adam Levine or Joe Dirt for Halloween.
“I love to see how creative people can be with costumes and the day after Halloween when all the candy is 50% off,” Jackson said.
