USI, the Communications Department and the Scripps Howard Center for Media Studies will host High School Media Day for hundreds of area high school students and their teachers Friday on campus.
High school journalists will attend sessions and workshops offered by USI faculty and area media professionals, including members of The Shield staff. The sessions will include topics such as social media, digital audio editing, digital storytelling, digital video editing and finding fresh story ideas.
Media Day will also include newspaper and yearbook contests, publication critiques and an awards luncheon.
Keynote speaker, Chris Holmes, was named 2014 Missouri Teacher of the Year by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Plaques and certificates will be presented to the winners during the awards luncheon Friday.
