USI students will get to dress up and hit the runway to showcase traditional attire from all over the world at the International Reception and Fashion Show.
The event kicks off National International Education Week from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday in Carter Hall.
Nicole Vernon, Program Coordinator for International Programs and Services said that the International Reception and Fashion Show is an exciting event that celebrates the diversity of USI’s international students, faculty and staff.
“The International Reception and Fashion show will give students a way to explore a little bit of the world without leaving USI,” Vernon said.
Vernon says food by Sodexo as well as a few traditional dishes will be provided.
Several students and faculty members will be walking around portraying traditional attire from countries such as China, Japan, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, India and Africa.
Amie Shipman, public administrations major and Graduate Assistant of the Center of International Studies said she plans to participate in the fashion show and also assist in organizing the event.
“I always love to see all the different clothing from all around the world,” Shipman said. “This year will be our biggest one yet and we will even have a runway.”
Vernon encourages students to come the show and other events that will be held the rest of the week.
The week concludes with the International Extravaganza-Dance Around the World will be from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday at the RFWC, which will have a drawing for a $500 airline gift card.
