Everyone who drove onto USI’s campus from the Lloyd Expressway Thursday morning was greeted by the American flag, waving from the ladder of a Perry Township firetruck. The Flag Raising Ceremony took place on the overpass above University Boulevard because of its high visibility to traffic below, causing those who drive past to honk their horns or wave out of their car windows.
The Ceremony, a tradition since 2002, pays tribute to the individuals who lost their lives during 9/11 and to those that serve our country today.
Thursday marked the 13th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
