Emalee Jones, sophomore English major, was the Managing Editor for the 2022-2023 academic year. Jones joined The Shield in September 2021 as a Copy Editor and was promoted to Chief Copy Editor for the Fall 2022 semester. She was promoted to Managing Editor for the Spring 2023 semester and served as Editing Director of The Shield's COVID-19 Publication Committee for the 2023 special-edition magazine, "Unmasked."  Jones was awarded the 2022-2023 Shieldster of the Year for her work and time devoted to The Shield during the 2022-2023 academic year.

Jones enjoys playing video games with friends, reading in her free time, working for The Shield and collecting plushies for her desk. Jones’ favorite movies are from the John Wick franchise, and her favorite author is Julie Kagawa.

“The Shield has given me a purpose on campus that I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else,” Jones said. “I’ve gained so much from working here: great friends, leadership skills and confidence I never would have dreamed of having.”
