A teen was killed in a single-car crash early Saturday morning.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department received a call at 12:27 a.m. Saturday about a crash at 8909 W Boonville-New Harmony Rd.
Nineteen-year-old Zachariah Houghland was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office.
Houghland’s Facebook page said he studies at USI, and he is listed under the USI directory.
According to a press release sent by the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Houghland was traveling eastbound on Boonville-New Harmony Road when he appeared to go over the south side of the road near a curve.
Houghland overcorrected, lost control and the vehicle flipped multiple times before coming to a rest 150 feet off the roadway on the north side of the road.
The teen was ejected from the vehicle, according to the release.
The crash is still under investigation.
