Marna Hostetler, the new Director of the Library, started her job on Oct. 1. Originally earning her master’s degree in Library Science at Indiana University, Hostetler has worked at other university libraries during her career.
“I worked at the University of South Carolina, and before that I was at Hollins University in Virginia,” Hostetler said. At Hollins University, Hostetler was an interlibrary loan and public services librarian for two years.
During her 13 years of work at USC, Hostetler worked as the associate dean of libraries and the director of the Thomas Cooper Library, USC’s main library. Before this, Hostetler was head of both the Access Services and the Interlibrary Loan Department at USC.
“I was hoping to end up back in the Midwest, and I was hoping to be at a school this size,” Hostetler said, “When I saw the job ad last October, I thought it would be good to look at the USI campus and buildings.” Hostetler said several reasons influenced her to take the job, ranging from the “gorgeous building” she now works in, to the “positive energy” she feels from our ever-growing campus.
