A USI student was hit by a car on campus Sunday evening and sent to Deaconess Hospital, USI Assistant Director of Public Safety Stephen Bequette said. 

Nineteen-year-old USI student Justin Edwards was hit by 20-year-old Jonathan Gerbig at approximately 5:57 p.m. Sunday at the Orr Center crosswalk, Bequette said. 

Edwards was transported to Deaconness Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Gerbig was not taken into custody.
