Apparently owner Jim Irsay is the only person the Colts needs. At least he seems to think so.
If the team continues the reckless and widespread cuts that they have been making over the past two weeks then he may well have to put on a jersey and step onto the field. The first person to go was Vice Chairman Bill Polian.
He shouldered the blame for the lack of talent in the quarterback position this year. Once Polian was fired, Peyton Manning was quoted as saying, “It makes me sad that this ends on such a negative note.”
This leaves many wondering if Manning knew that other employee’s would soon get canned. The next to go was Coach Jim Caldwell. The other four members of the Polian family, including General manager Chris Polian quit under protest to the personnel changes.
Manning recently ran a 4.7 second 40-yard dash and has been throwing better than ever according to running back Joseph Addai.
In spite of this he was cut last Wednesday, most assume this is to secure Andrew Luck as quarterback. The Colts next announced that players Joseph Addai, Dallas Clark, Melvin Bulett, Gary Brackett and Curtis Painter were being cut.
To make matters worse, eighteen more players, such as Reggie Wayne, Pierre Garcon and Jeff Saturday, have become unrestricted free agents. Dwight Freeney is the next target under fire, and many have suspected that if he goes, so too does Robert Mathis.
This leaves the Colts significant players at an injured Austin Collie, Adam Vinateri, and two guys named Pat.
