Last year, USI partnered with Sodexo to bring 15 Kiwibots to aid in delivering food to on-campus locations.
According to Becky Diamond, USI dining director, the Kiwibots have helped deliver 19,095 orders since rolling out in Fall 2023. Compared to the fall semester, Spring 2024 saw a 25% increase in Kiwibot deliveries.
The Kiwibots deliver to 68 on-campus locations, including all apartments, residence halls, colleges and centers, and most sport complexes. According to data provided by Diamond, Newman Hall has the highest percentage of orders, and the most popular order time is 7 p.m., just beating 1 p.m.
The Shield reached out to Kindra Strupp, vice president of marketing and communications, for a statement.
“The Kiwibot robots have become a fixture on campus, and many consider them to be part of the USI family,” Strupp said. “It is quite common to hear people remark how cute they are as they roll by. We appreciate our partners at Sodexo for bringing forward this cutting-edge technology and adding a convenient meal delivery option for many in our campus community.”
