Intramural softball experiences Wet Dream

Softball, cornhole, volleyball, tennis and flag football. The list goes on and on for the amount of intramural sports at USI.

Intramural sports offer students a chance to competitively play sports with fellow students in a casual environment.

“I play intramural sports because I get to have fun with my friends,” said Levi Warren, member softball team Wet Dream and junior undecided major. “I get to come out and play with my friend’s high school and compete and meet new people…that’s what I like about intramurals.”

For people who played sports in high school and do not play any collegiate sports, intramurals can provide an avenue to still play a sport.

“I played a lot of sports in high school,” said Landon Harner, sophomore business administration major. “Intramural gives me the opportunity to play the sports that I played in high school and play new ones that I never got to play like ultimate Frisbee.”

With intramural softball playoffs on the horizon, it has created a more competitive atmosphere.

“We don’t have a rival team yet, but once it starts getting closer to playoffs well have a rival team,” Warren said.

For senior business managment major Amanda Bradley and her friends, going to intramural is about spectating and supporting friends.

“We’re here for moral support and to support our boyfriends,” Bradley said. “Coming out here is a great way to meet new people and get away from school. Plus, it’s interesting to see everyone get into it.”

Some people like intramural sports because it offers a way to stay in shape.

“I play a lot of Intermural sports like volleyball and softball,” said Miranda Huddleston, sophomore special education major. “Intramural sports allow me to stay in shape and allows me to meet a lot of new people.”

Getting involved and creating a team is set up through an online website called imleagues.com.

“I got involved because my friends wanted to play sports and we didn’t play any collegiate sports,” Harner said. “I’m glad I did it because it gives me to do after classes and is a great stress reliever.”
