The Sport Management Club and SGA will be hosting a 3 on 3 person basketball tournament to raise funds for the Jamel Lewis Education Fund April 1st at the Physical Activities Center (PAC).
There are currently tables outside of the University Center where students can sign up for the tournament, according to Senior Michael Gibbs the head of the Sport Management Club. Gibbs is a double major in Kinesiology and Sport Management.
“This is the first full year for the club,” Gibbs said. The point of the club is to allow the students to build their resumes while helping the community. “We have roughly 30 members who are actively involved.”
The club has put on various events this year including the Hearts on Fire 5k that was recently held.
The tournament is aimed at raising money for Jamel Lewis who is the son of former USI basketball athlete Jeron Lewis who passed away last year.
The tournament will kick off at 6 p.m. at the PAC. Those interested may contact Michael Gibbs for more information at 812-449-9073.
