Melodramatic Rose: Bring back my pie
It was my freshman year at the university, I was thrilled to see the multitude of food options offered to me.
One thing that particularly piqued my interest was Burger King. The king of fast food. The king of apple pie. The king of my apple chicken salad.
But then the day came when Burger King was ripped out of the University Center (literally).
My 10 p.m. pie runs were stripped from me faster than I could blink. And the affordable chicken fries and nugs that were no longer there, left me hungry and abandoned.
But the one thing that really makes me sad is the fact that all my food options became far more expensive.
My 10 chicken nuggets for a $1 became $8. My pie became non-existent and my fresh apple chicken caesar salad with the Apple Cider Vinaigrette became a distant memory of the past.
I just think if you’re going to take away my healthy and delicious salad for an affordable price, then you should at least try and give other options that are still affordable.
I mean of course I am a big fan of Chick-Fil-A, their lemonade and nugs are quality but their salads are sub-par, and they are lacking in pie choices.
Burger King even had slushies and ice cream.
Burger King had everything.
The worst thing that happened is that there’s not even a Burger King on the West Side anymore and it’s a good 15-20 minutes away and that’s not worth a trip to 1st Ave.
I’m just out here asking for healthy and affordable salads, pie and non-healthy nugs.
But I guess Burger King at USI will remain a figment of my past.
