The university will host four candidates for the Dean of Students position from Feb. 11-14 on campus.

The candidates will give open forum presentations on the topic “The Role of the Dean of Students at the University of Southern Indiana and Major Trends That Will Shape the Position.”

The presentations will be held 9:30 to 10:10 a.m. Monday through Thursday and are open to the USI community. A feedback survey will be sent out following each presentation.

• Jennifer Hammat – Feb. 11 in UC 2219/2220

Hammat currently serves as Title IX Coordinator at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. She formerly served as Associate Vice President for university compliance services at the University of Texas at Austin. Hammat earned a doctorate in education and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Texas Tech University and a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from Murray State University.  

• Amy Franklin-Craft – Feb. 12 in UC 2217/2218

Franklin-Craft is the former director of residence life, housing and student conduct at Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pennsylvania from August 2014 to July 2017. She served as both student services coordinator and associate director of Residence Life at Michigan State University and also held positions at Denison University, University of Delaware and Framingham State College. Franklin-Craft holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and public administration and a master’s degree in higher education counseling from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

• Ryan Van Dusen – Feb. 13 in UC 2217/2218

Van Dusen currently serves as the Dean of Student Development at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. Prior to that, Van Dusen was the Associate Dean of Students at the University of Memphis from June 2015 to July 2017. He served in the United States Army as an assistant tank commander for four years at Fort Riley, Camp Casey and in Korea. He earned a doctorate of philosophy in higher education from Texas Tech University and has a master’s degree in communication studies from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in business from the University of Memphis, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Edinboro University.

• Andrew Pollom – Feb. 14 in UC 2217/2218

Pollom is the Associate Dean of Students at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois. He also served four years as Associate Dean of Students and Director of Residence Life. Prior to joining Lake Forest College, he served as both Assistant Dean of Students for Residential Life and Student Conduct and Director of Residential Life and Student Conduct at Concordia University Chicago. He received a bachelor’s degree in criminology and a master’s degree in criminology/correctional counseling from Indiana State University. He earned his doctorate in education from Benedictine University.
