Candidates for Chief Government Officer to visit campus

Three candidates for the Chief Government and Legal Affairs Officer position will be on campus next week for a question and answer session with the university community.

The topic of each presentation is “How would you tell USI’s story” and all candidates will host multiple open forums from 1:30 to 2:10 p.m. in University Center East room 2217. The following information was gathered from the candidates’ resumes.

 

  • Mark Ahearn served as chief legal and ethics officer to former Governor and current U.S. Vice President Mike Pence (R) and also his general counsel when Pence was a congressman. He was also the deputy commissioner for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) under former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels (R). Ahearn will present on Oct. 2.

 

  • Doajo Hicks, who will present on Oct. 3, is the vice president of legal services and public safety at Dixie State University in Saint George, Utah. He also served as deputy general counsel at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio.

 

  • Aaron Trump, a civil rights investigator at the University of Colorado, will present Oct. 4. He has formerly served at two law firms in Evansville as an associate attorney from 2014 to 2018.

Participants will have until 4:30 each day to provide feedback to the search committee. The resumes for each candidate can be viewed online through an email sent to all students, faculty, staff and administration.
