Dogs sport festive colors for the River City Pride Festival June 7 on Main Street, Evansville.

Despite less-than-ideal weather for an outdoor event, the 5th ever-River City Pride Festival saw a crowd of people hit the streets of downtown Evansville. Held down Main Street on June 7, the festival featured an array of performances from drag artists and entertainers, in addition to booths from vendors, sponsors and eateries.

Nico Armeanu is a junior studio art and German major. Armeanu joined The Shield in Spring 2024 as a photographer and now serves as the arts and entertainment editor. Armeanu was the district winner at the 2022 Congressional Art Competition and won the freshman award in USI’s 53rd Annual Juried Art Contest. In 2023, they won best in show for the teen category at the Wesselman Wood’s Juried Art Contest. Armeanu spends most of their free time making art. Outside of that, they enjoy swimming, playing guitar and working on DIY projects.
